Filters can be added to each Source/Audio Device, and even to a Scene. You add a filter by right-clicking onto the desired Source or Scene in the list, and then selecting Filters. For Audio devices, click the little cogwheel next to the volume bar in the Audio Mixer and select Filters.
Studio Mode
If you are changing Scenes, the last active Scene will be shown in the edit area on the left. After you are done with everything and transitioned to the changed Scene, you can deactivate Studio Mode until you need to edit again. Viewers cannot see when Studio Mode is enabled or not. Is OBS really free?

Any changes to the code are reviewed by other OBS contributors, so no one can add anything malicious. As long as you download OBS from this website, you will receive the latest version which is safe to use and free of malware. OBS is open-source software developed by volunteer contributors around the world in their free time. The summary of the license is that OBS is free for anyone to use, for any reason. Other developers can use the OBS code in their own projects as long as they obey the guidelines set forth in the GPLv2 license. OBS has no watermarks or other limitations and can be used commercially with no restrictions.
Since the OBS Contributors are a small group, we can only test against the hardware and software that we have available. If we do make a mistake with an update, you can bet we’ll be on top of it, honest about it, and correct it as soon as we can. Stop by our Community Chat if you need more assistance. OBS updates should leave your settings intact, but it’s possible that something else on your system may have interfered with the update process.

OBS Studio
If you later on change the Base (Canvas) Resolution of OBS Studio, you will have to re-align or re-size the sources. Changing the Output (Scaled) Resolution does not have this effect. Most commonly, updates will cause antivirus and security programs to look closer at OBS. Some can even flag the behavior, falsely, as malicious. Make sure that if you are running an antivirus, the OBS folder is whitelisted. You may need to remove and re-add any .exe files to the whitelist after each update as some products ignore the whitelist if the file has changed since it was added.

The quality on my stream or recording is bad! How can I fix it?
Set up an unlimited number of scenes you can switch between seamlessly via custom transitions. Activating Studio Mode allows you to change your Scenes in the background without your viewers being able to see you making those changes. After you click on the Studio Mode button, you will see the current Live Scene (what your viewers see) on the right while your edit Scene on the left. It may seem like a lot to take in all at once; just take your time and read carefully. Studio Mode lets you preview your scenes and sources before pushing them live. Adjust your scenes and sources or create new ones and ensure they’re perfect before your viewers ever see them. High performance real time video/audio capturing and mixing.

Clicking the eye icon next to an added filter will enable/disable that filter, similar to showing/hiding a source. This is the bounding box, and can be used to position sources within the preview as well as make the source larger or smaller. These are where you set up your stream layout, add your games, webcams, and any other devices or media that you want in the output. Streamlined Settings panel gives you access to a wide array of configuration options to tweak every aspect of your broadcast or recording. To use joysticks as hotkeys on Linux and Windows, you can use antimicro to map the joystick keys to common keyboard keys and then use them in OBS. Create scenes made up of multiple sources including window captures, images, text, browser windows, webcams, capture cards and more. Choose from a number of different and customizable transitions for when you switch between your scenes or add your own stinger video files. After you have configured a Transition, you can also add it as a Quick Transition in Studio Mode. For Quick Transitions, you can configure the duration (length) of the transition as well. For example, you can add the same Fade to your Quick Transitions Menu with 500ms and 1000ms if you wanted.
